Cutting Board Designer ("the app") is built and operated as an independent project. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and how to remove it. The short version: the app collects only what's needed to run, sync, and bill for the service — there's no advertising, no profile-building, and no selling of data to anyone.
What the app stores on your device
By default, your cutting board projects, measurement preferences (imperial or metric), and onboarding state are saved locally on your device using the standard iOS preferences store. Nothing leaves your device unless you sign in.
What the app stores in the cloud
If you create an account and enable sync, the following is stored in our backend (Google Firebase) so it can be available across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac:
- Account info: the email address from your sign-in method (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In) and an internal user ID.
- Your projects: the cutting board designs you create — dimensions, wood selections, layers, and any custom wood species you've added.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Pro subscription, managed via RevenueCat using your anonymous App Store transaction.
Project data is stored under your user account at the path users/<your-user-id>/projects/<project-id> and is only accessible to you.
What the app does not collect
- No location data.
- No contacts, photos (other than ones you explicitly export), microphone, or camera data — except the camera frames used transiently for the AR preview, which are processed on-device and never uploaded.
- No advertising identifiers.
- No browsing or in-app behaviour tracking for marketing.
Crash and diagnostic data
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports. These reports include anonymous device model, operating system version, and a stack trace of where the crash occurred. They do not include your projects, account email, or any personally identifying content. Crash data is used only to fix bugs.
Third-party services
The app relies on the following services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — authentication, project sync, crash reporting.
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- Sign in with Apple — optional account creation.
- Google Sign-In — optional account creation.
How long data is kept
Account and project data is kept until you delete your account or remove the data yourself. Crash reports are retained per Firebase Crashlytics defaults (typically 90 days).
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account and all associated cloud data from inside the app: open Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion removes your projects from our backend immediately. If you'd prefer to request deletion by email, contact support@cuttingboarddesigner.app and the request will be processed within 30 days.
Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data on that device but does not delete cloud-synced data — use the in-app deletion option for that.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and it will be removed.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. The fastest way to exercise these rights is the in-app account deletion above; for anything else, email support@cuttingboarddesigner.app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in any meaningful way, the "Last updated" date at the top will change and the app will surface a notice on your next launch. Past versions are not archived publicly; if you'd like one, email and ask.
